CITY OF KING: City of King COVID-19 Updates

Stay at home

City of King issued the following announcement on Mar. 27.

Today, March 27, 2020, Governor Roy Cooper issued Executive Order #121, a statewide Stay at Home Order beginning Monday, March 30 at 5 p.m. until April 29, 2020. The Executive Order directs people to stay at home except to visit essential businesses, to exercise outdoors or to help a family member. Specifically, the order bans gatherings of more than 10 people and directs everyone to physically stay at least six feet apart from others. A full list of essential businesses can be found in the order, linked below. Please note that this order will not require any permits or documentation for citizens engaging in activities not prohibited by the order, or for businesses outlined as essential carrying out their normal activities.

At this time, Everyone’s Playground at Recreation Acres and the playground at Central Park are now closed until further notice to avoid close contact between individuals and in order to comply with the Governor’s order described above. This closure also complies with an order of the Stokes County Health Director, which was effective on Friday evening at 6:00pm.

These actions are taken to lessen the number of individuals who contract COVID-19. It is important that we do all that we can to slow the spread of this disease to avoid overwhelming our health care system and its limited staff and resources. We are hopeful that the citizens of King and our surrounding community will voluntarily comply with these measures, knowing that they are taken in the public’s best interest. It is the responsibility of every individual to do our part. Together, we can come out of this stronger than ever.
