CITY OF KING: City of King COVID-19 Updates - March 25

City of King issued the following announcement on March 25.

Under the Order of Abatement of Imminent Hazard released by the NC Department of Health and Human Services on Tuesday, March 17th, all restaurants are ordered to close ALL seating areas - this includes outdoor areas. Restaurants are to remain open for carry-out, drive-through and delivery ONLY to ensure food is available while enabling an environment when staff and patrons maintain social distancing whenever possible.  On, Monday, March 23, 2020 Governor Roy Cooper issued Executive Order #120, which:

• Banned gatherings of more than 50 people

– Normal operations at airports, bus and train stations, medical facilities, shopping malls, office environments, factories, grocery stores, and child care facilities are exempt

• Ordered entertainment facilities to close by March 25 at 5pm

– includes bingo parlors, bowling alleys, indoor exercise facilities, health clubs, indoor/outdoor pools, live performance venues, movie theaters, skating rinks, spas, gaming establishments

• Ordered personal care and grooming businesses where personnel are in direct contact with clients to close by March 25 at 5pm

– includes barber shops, beauty salons, hair salons, nail salons, massage parlors, tattoo parlors

• Long term care facilities must restrict visitation except for in compassionate care situations (end-of-life situations)

– Essential health personnel are exempt

 New CDC guidelines regarding COVID-19: 

• If you have mild symptoms, stay at home and call your doctor to see if you need to be seen at the office or in another setting

• The vast majority of people who get COVID 19 will have mild illness and recover at home.

• Most people will not need a test, testing will not change what you or your doctor will do

• If you are sick, you must isolate yourself

• Family members should stay home for 14 days and monitor their symptoms

• Testing should focus on healthcare workers, hospitalized patients, patients in long term care facilities

 The King Police Department is urging citizens to be aware of potential fraud and scams during the COVID-19 pandemic. These include, but are not limited to, fraudulent calls, illegitimate charities, and false offers for Coronavirus vaccines (none currently exist). Read the full alert here.
