FOIA Request to Stokes County Election Department Regarding Upcoming Election Candidates on February 5, 2025.
As part of our commitment to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at NC North Carolina News have requested records under the North Carolina Public Records Law, G.S. §132-1., from the Stokes County Election Department.
Our request includes a list of all candidates running for the upcoming election. The details we seek include the candidate's first, middle, and last names; the office they are running for; jurisdiction of the office; and party affiliation of the candidate.
In addition to these details, we have also asked for all contact information for each candidate. This includes their address, phone number, and email address.
As a media organization dedicated to holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public, access to public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. We believe that as media professionals disseminating information to the public, we are eligible for a fee waiver.
