City of Winston-Salem issued the following announcement on Dec. 28.
The Historic Resources Commission is seeking members for its education and diversity, equity and inclusion committees, who would serve two-year terms and participate in quarterly meetings. The deadline to apply is Jan. 31 at 5 p.m. Letters of interest and resumes should be sent to: preservation@cityofws.org.
The education committee is seeking two members. Its goal is to educate the public about the commission’s work and the Forsyth County’s historic buildings
The diversity, equity and inclusion committee is looking for five members. Its mission is to amplify the stories of people who have not been recognized by traditional historic narratives. The committee’s focus in 2023 will be to bring two exhibits to the city about Black architects and builders, and Green Book sites.
Both committees will also be involved in planning events for Black History Month in February and Preservation Month in May, as well as the 75th anniversary of the commission’s founding in 2023.
