Rockingham County Schools issued the following announcement on Apr. 20.
This is an important message for South End Elementary parents and students from Rockingham County Schools. RCS will be conducting a series of Information Sessions and Open Houses in the coming weeks to provide families with more details about the potential transition of South End Elementary’s fifth grade classes to Reidsville Middle School starting with the 2022-23 school year.
The first Information Session for parents and students will be held virtually the morning of April 26 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Zoom. Parents are advised to contact South End Elementary School or Rockingham County Schools Central Office to receive the link to this Zoom meeting, as the link will not be made public. Also on April 26, RCS will be hosting a Parent Information Night at South End Elementary School, which begins at 6:00 p.m.. Parents will be able to view a detailed presentation explaining the proposed transition of South End Elementary fifth graders to Reidsville Middle, and will be able to ask questions to RCS officials and South End Elementary School staff.
On Friday, April 29, South End Elementary rising fifth graders will be taking a field trip to Reidsville Middle School to get a closer look at the school and the proposed location of the new fifth grade classrooms. Then on Tuesday, May 3, RCS is planning an Open House session at Reidsville Middle School at 6:00 p.m. for interested families. RCS is committed to providing parents with as much information as possible about this possible transition, and we encourage parents of rising South End Elementary fifth graders to take part in these Information Sessions and Open Houses to get their questions answered and to receive all the details of RCS’s proposed plans.
