Rockingham County Schools issued the following announcement on Aug. 6.
The Rockingham County Schools Bus Driving Class will be held August 16, 17th, and 18th at Rockingham Community College, Room T105 (Technical Service Building) at 215 Wrenn Memorial Road in Wentworth from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.. Please bring your driver’s license and eye glasses if you wear them, as well as any snacks or drinks you may want during the day.
RCS employees can sign up online on the RCS website, or contact Marlene Holder at transportation for more information and/or help. Community members may also sign up online on the RCS website. Click on the school bus icon and scroll all the way to the bottom and both employee and community links can be found.
Back to School Orientation for Traditional Calendar and EC School Bus Drivers is scheduled for Thursday, August 19th and Friday, August 20th at Rockingham County High School. In order to maintain safety protocols and social distancing, drivers will be assigned by zones.

Reidsville Zone Drivers: 9:00-11:00 am
County Zone Drivers: 1:00-3:00 pm
August 20, 2021
Western Zone Drivers: 9:00-11:00 am
Eden Zone Drivers: 1:00-3:00 pm
Registration will begin 30 minutes before each session. Bus Drivers must attend a meeting in person.
Drivers will receive the driver handbook and sign the required paperwork located in the booklet. This is how classified drivers are compensated for attending. If we do not receive the assigned paperwork for each driver, individuals will not be paid.
If for some reason a driver has an emergency and cannot attend their assigned session, they will need to plan to attend one of the other sessions. Bus orientation is mandatory and any driver that does not attend and complete paperwork will not be allowed to drive for the school year.
Drivers please practice social distancing and follow all related safety protocols. We appreciate your support as we navigate the orientation process.
The EC Bus Monitor Training will be held in conjunction with the Back to School Orientation for Traditional and EC School Bus Drivers on August 19 and 20 at Rockingham High School. ALL monitors, including monitors that have been previously trained and new monitors, must complete this training. All monitors are required to complete this training each year (even if they have completed it before).
Monitors will need to report to Rockingham High School's auditorium 30 minutes prior to the beginning of the orientation/training. In order to maintain social distancing schools are assigned to training by zones. Friday, August 20 is an optional workday. If you have staff that are not working that day, but need the EC monitor training please work with the transportation department to determine if there is ample space available for them to attend one of the other sessions.
