The Stokes Soil & Water Conservation District is requesting bids for the maintenance of the 24 watershed structures in Stokes County for the Fall 2021 maintenance plus January 2022 - December 2024 contract period. The USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service has designed and constructed 24 flood control structures in Stokes County over the past 40 years. These structures provide flood control for 56,579 acres in the Town Fork Creek watershed area and 36,536 acres in the Little Yadkin watershed area. The Stokes Soil & Water Conservation District is responsible for the maintenance of these flood control structures which includes mowing and maintenance on 75 acres and debris/brush removal on an as needed basis. The services requested will be between April and November of each year and are to be completed when the weather is suitable. Contracts are for 3-year periods; beginning in January and ending in December.

In order to be eligible to submit a bid for the watershed maintenance, you must have proof of liability insurance (recommended $1,000,000 minimum) or have documentation of the intent to purchase the insurance. You must also provide worker’s compensation if you have 3 or more full time employees or 10 or more unseasonal employees. Only bids from those who possess the appropriate equipment and required documents will be considered. Zero turn lawnmowers and finishing mowers are not appropriate for the required maintenance needs. The selected contractor must provide their own way in and out of the watershed areas. Please include a list of equipment that you intend to use with your bid.
