Stokes County Schools issued the following announcement on Jul. 15.
Dr. Rice has announced Ms. Kim Mounce as the next Principal of Walnut Cove Elementary School. Ms. Mounce is a graduate of South Stokes High School. She completed her Bachelor of Arts in Education at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and her Master of School Administration at Appalachian State University. Mounce started her teaching career in Stokes County in 1996 at Germanton Elementary School before moving to administration in 2009.
Mounce has served as an assistant principal at South Stokes High, King Elementary, Poplar Springs Elementary, and Piney Grove Middle Schools. Mounce stated, "I am so excited to have the opportunity to serve the Walnut Cove community. I have grown up in the community and raised my children here. This is home, and I am looking forward to a great school year!" Dr. Rice stated, "Ms. Mounce has faithfully served the students in Stokes County in a variety of roles and all levels through the years.
She has volunteered for several leadership roles including an interim principalship, and has been summer school principal at the elementary level several times. I believe her experience will serve her well in her first principal position.”
