Rockingham was among nine North Carolina counties with schools awarded funds in the latest round of Bright Ideas grants from EnergyUnited.
In total, 40 North Carolina educators received grants ranging between $308 and $2,000 to support their efforts to create innovative educational solutions, EnergyUnited said in a November release. They vary from finding new ways to use technology and other tools to create successful strategies to offer quality education while abiding by COVID-19 restrictions.
“EnergyUnited is very proud to support our educators’ continued efforts to innovate in the classroom, whether in person or virtually, even as our communities respond to the many challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic,” EnergyUnited communications manager Maureen Moore said in the release.
The Bright Ideas grants are awarded by EnergyUnited and 25 other member-owned electric cooperatives around the state, according to the release.
“Investing in the education of our youth and future leaders is just one way in which EnergyUnited demonstrates its resounding commitment to community," Moore said in the release.
