Cost of college went up for all students at Rockingham Community College

In-state tuition and fees rose 1.3 percent for 2018-19 at Rockingham Community College, according to recent data from the U.S. Department of Education.

North Carolina residents paid $1,966 to attend the two-year public institution this year – $26 more than the $1,940 charged for 2017-18.

Non-residents paid 234.4 percent more than residents this year, or $6,574. Their price tag grew 0.4 percent from $6,548 in 2017-18.

About 99 percent of the school's undergraduate population are North Carolina residents. And about 1 percent are residents of other states.

Data shows 69 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 111 students received grants or scholarships totaling $711,117 and 3 students took out student loans totaling more than $11,074.

Including all undergraduates (1,685), 744 students used grants or scholarships totaling $4.9 million.
