State Rep. Kyle Hall (R-Rockingham) used his social media account to congratulate a community college for ranking in the Top 25 for best in the nation.
SmartAsset recently released a report of the best community colleges in the U.S., with Surry Community College in Dobson ranking 16th.
"Congratulations to Surry Community College for being ranked the 16th best community college in the U.S.," Hall said in a Facebook post on July 29.
A personal finance technology company, SmartAsset, analyzed more than 800 community colleges for its "Best Community Colleges in America — 2020 Edition," which was released on July 22. Colleges were ranked using student-to-faculty ratios, graduation and transfer rates and tuition costs.
Of the top 25 community colleges, 10 of them are located in North Carolina, according to the SmartAsset website.
"This would not have been possible without the incredible leadership of President David Shockley and his entire faculty & staff," Hall said in the Facebook post. "Go Knights!"
The top-ranked community college was Brunswick Community College in Bolivia. Also making the Top 5 from North Carolina were College of Albemarle in Elizabeth City and Carteret Community College in Morehead, ranking second and fourth respectively.
