CITY OF KING: King Downtown Halloween - Safe Trick or Treat to be Held November 11

Halloween

City of King recently issued the following announcement.

King Downtown Halloween - Safe Trick or Treat

The annual Downtown Halloween Safe Trick or Treat will be held on Thursday, October 31, 2019, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.  The downtown portions of Main Street and Dalton Road will be closed at approximately 5:00 p.m. until the end of this event.  Please make plans to use alternate routes during this time.

Parents - please do not allow your children on the streets until this event formally begins at 6 p.m. in order to ensure the safety of your children and allow our Police Department time to make certain that all traffic has been diverted.

The National Confectioners Association has established the following safety tips to help make this a safe and enjoyable one:

Make sure children can see well through face masks, or use cosmetics to create fun or scary faces.

Wear light-colored clothing that's short enough to prevent tripping and add reflective tape to the sides, front and back of costume.

Adults should accompany young children.

Go out in daylight and carry a flashlight  in case of delay.

Stay within the neighborhood and only visit homes you know.

Watch for traffic.

Only give and accept wrapped or packaged candy.

Examine all candy before allowing children to eat it.

Keep costumed children away from pets. The pet may not recognize the child and become frightened.

Avoid hard plastic or wood props such as daggers and swords. Substitute with foam rubber which is soft and flexible.
