Sen. Jones files bill in North Carolina Senate to revise appraiser licensing procedures

A new bill filed by State Sen. Dana Jones seeks to update the licensing and certification process for real estate appraisers in North Carolina, according to the North Carolina State Senate.

In essence, this bill amends the North Carolina Appraisers Act, revising the licensing and certification procedures for real estate appraisers. For those pursuing licensure as a licensed or certified residential real estate appraiser, it introduces two pathways: the Traditional Supervisor and Trainee Pathway or the Practical Applications of Real Estate Appraisal (PAREA) Pathway. The bill stipulates specific requirements for each pathway, such as education, experience, and examination mandates, and includes detailed protocols for submitting appraisal reports. It also includes provisions for nonresident licensure, prohibiting reciprocity agreements based solely on out-of-state licensure.
