Rockingham County Schools issued the following announcement on Aug. 14. 

RCS extends its sincerest congratulations to Lindsay Shropshire of Rockingham County Middle School, who was announced Monday morning as Rockingham County Schools’ winner of the Beginning Teacher of Excellence Award for the 2021-22 school year. RCS Superintendent Dr. Rodney Shotwell and RCS Board of Education members Kimberly McMichael and Vickie McKinney joined RCS Beginning Teacher Program Coordinator Angela Martin in a surprise drop-in at Rockingham County Middle Monday morning to present Lindsay with flowers for her achievement
