City of King issued the following announcement on Oct. 10.

If you’ve always wanted to get out there, but don’t know where to go/don’t want to go alone, this is the program for you!! No need to travel far to enjoy the outdoors – let’s appreciate the beauty of our backyard! REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED. https://kingnc.recdesk.com/Community/Program/Detail…

On October 14, we will be exploring the River Section of Pilot Mountain State Park – we’ll hike the Ivy Bluff Trail, a 1.3 mile (one-way) out and back trail rated moderate.

TWO OPTIONS FOR MEETING UP:
Parks and Recreation Director, Olivia Calloway, will be leading the meetup hike.
1) Meet in front of Everyone’s Playground at Rec Acres 45 minutes prior to hike time and caravan (follow in your own car) to the trailhead. Perfect if you don’t know where you’re going!
2) Meet at the trailhead. Email ocalloway@ci.king.nc.us with questions. PLEASE NOTE: If you have not registered and choose to meet us at the trailhead, we may begin hiking without you without knowing you’re planning to join us. PLEASE REGISTER so we know to look for you!
